Everyone & their dog is fretting about tomorrow, being valentine's day, even non-believers: saint valentine, hello-o!
I am so fortunate to live in a place with folks, who are creative enough to design a different sort of celebration. we call it v-day (not just for valentine's, but for vagina & victory as well). an early morning gathering at the main beach will see us all in red, dancing & later jumping into the ocean in the nude. the idea is to reclaim a sense of safety, especially, but not only for women, in public; to raise awareness to sexist behaviour & encroachment, & to have a fun time, free from public persecution for a few hours.
Not everyone.
whoah! really?! is it contagious?
Any day that provides opportunity to Kiss a Woman is a Good Day on my book.
are there specific days that do not provide that opportunity?
@walklightly No, but some days are more specific than other days. Opportunity Rises with an Institutionalized Event!!!
Too many of us fall into the hype and depression fostered by greeting card (and other) companies. It's to their benefit to create a holiday that also creates a source of revenue. When in a good relationship valentines day should be every day. Of course everyone knows the V for victory hand sign. I think most of also know what it means to turn the hand around and do the sign (up yours)! Give that to the greeting card companies.
I'd totally go skinny dipping with y'all, but it's too damned cold for that.
not here. come on over. i actually wish it was a tad cooler during the day.
@walklightly I would but I don't think my car has the gas or buoyancy to make it there lol
I promise, I'm not 'fretting' about Valentine's Day, and neither is my dog.
good on ya
I wanna be there... and now you tell me?
Australians will spend over 1 billion dollars for Valentines Day.
wow! what really useful could be done with that dosh. think of our love for the homeless (light sarcasm intended).
Their money better than spending it on the lotto or in the military.
For myself, I definitely do NOT want to receive an expression of affection because the outside world insists that any particular day is THE day to obediently declare one's love. How insincere! To my mind, tokens of love on any OTHER day are far more valuable. Hallmark and the candy manufacturers can find some other day to drool over.
yep, so true. i never signed up for the officialising of love or any emotional state.
I haven't given a thought to Valentine's Day, I'm going ice fishing with a couple of friends and going to enjoy the outdoors
good on ya.... brrrrrrr
It may have meant something once but these days Valentines day is just another day of the year designed to extract money from hard working people. Meaningless commercialism.
I couldn't care less or my dogs lol
not you, @LeighShelton, i know that
