What are the moral responses to Nazis?

One of the larger questions of our time oddly, often asked as "should you punch a Nazi?" I'd actually open it up to white supremacists s nice that's what it and what genocidal philosophies derive from in western modernity.

I'd argue first off that genocide is not a legitimate or protected political stance. Period.
I'd argue second that the history of ethno nationalism was not in the slightest curbed by open discussion of ideas like mosr other things, but utilizes such a forum for protection in its goal to destroy it. It was not tolerated when we find its defeat in communities, or in the world at large.
I'd argue thirdly that love, among other lesser (relatively speaking) associated concepts like tolerance or freedom, is to be protected and that while pacifism is noble, it can also be a luxury. Violence should be avoided when possible but should not be forsaken in cowardice. Paraphrasing Ghandi on that one.
I'd argue finally that while the immediate moral response to those that would destroy what is good to every man, woman, and child for the sake of what is good to the arbitrary few is to fight them off and have zero tolerance for them on any platform, the larger picture is creating a stronger inclusive community that meets the needs of everyone in it. The downtrodden and the disconnected are often the most exploited in these ideologies of faith, charisma, and/or hate.

I personally wish to love everyone, and to protect love.
How do you see it?

One should not punch anyone as a principle which at times is very hard to keep especially with Political fanatics of the right and left.I am particularly averse to the Nazi philosophy and its hideous consequences but in a left wing world the notion of Communist/Socialist crimes are highly muted.Basically the Nazi and associated movements killed about 13 million people and the Communists 100 million! Where are the comments in the popular media of Stalin's crimes? Who knows ,especially younger people about the 35 million who perished in Mao Tse Tung,s "Cultural revolution?"Why do the left-wing college and University Professors keep a low profile on these matters?

  1. So you'd never punch anyone, ever, for any reason?
  2. Why do you feel the need to change the subject and deflect?
  3. Titmouse is a bird, but you wouldn't know unless you took the time to understand/realize it.
  4. Horseshoe theory is not an acceptable answer when we are talking about genocide as either a valid or invalid political stance.

No you should not punch a Nazi. They should be allowed to say what they want and if it becomes illegal the system will deal with them. Punching them is just fucking stupid because it makes people sympathize with them more.

The question then becomes what person sympathizes with Nazi's or white supremacists? I think it's telling.

???! ??? ???? ???? ????? ?? ????? ????? ?????? ?? ?? ??????? ?????, ?? ???? ??? ???? ??? ????? ?????? ??? ?? ?????. ??? ?? ????. ??? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??? ????? ????? ??????.

Oye! How would you expect me to answer that question? Nazi's are inherently immoral so, basically, you're asking how we fight that with morality. You can't. You must simply kill it by any means which seem useful.

The question marks were supposed to be Hebrew for what's below them.

One of the major themes of nazism is exclusion of all those who don't look like them, think like them or act like them. They were trying to protect and grow the perfect race. They would first separate all those who were unlike them and then eventually eradicate them.

I would like to point out that exclusion is common in human endeavors. Singling out all those not completely like them who don't agree with their definitions and then either forcing them out or pointing out that they don't fit. It's intolerance to a high degree of all things that don't fit what they deem to be correct.

Tolerating differences in culture, ideas and viewpoints is a step in the right direction. Love helps but is only a very small piece of the picture.

The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi. It was good enough for WWII and it is good enough for today. There is no "tolerance" for me. There is nothing but taking away my human rights and/or eliminating me. I think we should ignore them as much as possible, but for those who take them down in any way possible, I'll bring you sandwiches and hot coffee.

I hate to quote wikipedia, but they got this one right: "The paradox of tolerance, first described by Karl Popper in 1945, is a decision theory paradox. The paradox states that if a society is tolerant without limit, their ability to be tolerant will eventually be seized or destroyed by the intolerant. Popper came to the seemingly paradoxical conclusion that in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance."

Popper is quoted as saying, "We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal."

So yes, you should punch Nazis.
