Before bedtime, my mother read the funny, magical "Wizard of Oz" books to us four kids. It is one of my favorite childhood memories.

For years Kate has wanted a tattoo of one of those monkeys flying out of her butt.
They are not real monkeys. They are actors playing monkeys.
The movie classic that made Judy Garland into a dope addict. I will never forget it. If she was alive I bet Judy would not forget it either.

That was a mean thing to say.
My second partner was a Wizard of Oz freak. Here is us dressed for a costume party. She even made some ruby slippers. She loved anything about this and when we separated she took anything related to the story with her (whew). There was a question about what was the first, full length movie in color. The answer was "Gone with the Wind". The Wizard could have gotten it but, because the first part was in B & W it did not count as full length in color.
I just read this fascinating article how movies can shape history and this one was about an attempt to skew the history of the civil war. [smithsonianmag.com] Look at the part about Clark Gable.
