The Veil;
Can I lift the darken'd veil
that hides my future life from me?
Can unborn ages slowly sail
Before mine eyes -- what will I see?
My every action writtin there,
To cast one look I would not dare.
There poverty and grief might stand,
With dark Despair's corroding hand.
For it will make me seek the lonely tomb
and slumber in its endless gloom.
Please let me never dare to look,
Into Fate's fix'd mysterious book.
