The Middle Ground Fallacy used in debating human caused climate change and the existence of God I find particularly frustrating. The illusion of fairness that their argument is just as valid and deserves and equal airing.

YES. There’s a actually a few fallacies that some well known atheists use that I refuse to utilize. If I debate someone, I’m going to beat them fair in square. Not cheat when it’s beneficial to me.

A logical fallacy is a mistake in someones reasoning. If someone puts forth a line of reasoning that does not justify their conclusion, that is a logical fallacy (and there may be other ways to explain it also but that's pretty basic).

Developing an understanding of logic is how you protect yourself from continuing to hold irrational beliefs and protect yourself from falling for irrational arguments. The best thing you can do while you continue in your learning is to never be afraid to say the words "I don't know". Sometimes that is the correct answer. And it's ok to not hold a position on a topic, it's ok to reserve judgement until you have a better understanding.

Religionists do the exact opposite. They assert that their position is right even when they can't demonstrate it, and if you are able to say you don't know and require that the people who are making assertions need to demonstrate how they do know before Anyone can be justified in believing it then you will be taking the right approach.

Avoid intellectual dishonesty at all costs, in yourself and in others.

Every person should examine his or her own reasoning for logical fallacies. That is the heart of critical thinking!
