Goodbye medical boot that wore a painful, swollen groove in my shin.
Now I can start walking, gradually increasing the distance. May begin easy hikes in three weeks, the podiatrist said.
"Start by walking just a half mile," he said. I laughed. It takes me a mile to warm up.
"If your toe starts talking to you, back off," he said. Sheesh. I have two speeds: off and HIGH.
I feel thrilled the fracture is healed!
Last evening, had to ice my newly-healed toe after walking fast two miles.
I did too much, feeling like a horse let out of the barn.
Just did a fast, two-mile walk along the irrigation ditch. Toe feels fine.
Menacing rain clouds loomed. Carried an umbrella for the first time. Very British.
Rain! Felt smug until suddenly I was fighting high winds. Damn, umbrella!
In sunny Eastern WA, I'm surprised it did not deteriorate from heat in my car trunk after 30 years.
Congratulations.
Keep following doctor's orders.
I have two speeds: off and HIGH. It's hard to reign myself in.
@LiterateHiker Try.
I am trying to take it slow. Agonizing.
Such good news! I was rooting for you all along the way...I know you were so ready to be out again! YAY! Just take it easy and enjoy it all...look forward to your many adventures (and beautiful pictures!)...
