Atheist Medical Practioners- Are there very many?

I got to thinking about this after leaving my Dermatologist's office this afternoon. And I wonder if the medical speciality makes any difference.

As a provider, I can tell you first hand that there are many of us Atheists within the healthcare industry. At just my agency, we have several (more than 5 admitted agnostic/atheist). As far as providers outside of my agency, I know of a few. The others, I don't suspect of being that devout. The biggest irony tho, is while healthcare providers (in my experience, so admittedly anecdotal) tend to be secular, the other Emergency Services (PD & FD) tend to be more religious.

I have a classmate who is a surgeon that made snarky comments about indoctrination and the church so I asked him whether he is atheist or catholic. He went with agnostic.

I'm a nurse Practitioner and am considered a provider, so yes, we exist. I know of several atheist doctors in my hospital, but I'd say the docs are a mix of hindu, Christian, agnostic.

I'm sure there are some - but I've yet to meet one.

The Nurse Practitioner I've been seeing for years, is definitely a major Christian - I can tell from all the signs and things in the office. But his beliefs are never mentioned, or pushed on me.

We have one Female Doctor running for congress who is a supporter of trump and is running in support his policies here in eastern NC .

She is also a christian and spews that nonsense in every commercial.

It appears to be all about admitting it. The inquisition isn't dead. It just changed it's clothes. Fear of being singled out still stands in the forefront. Many doctors over the years wouldn't admit to it in fear of losing funding for research, etc.
