LINK The Prospect of an Elizabeth Warren Nomination Should Be Very Worrying | Current Affairs

FTA: "I don’t like to say that I can’t trust Elizabeth Warren, but I can’t. I can even see her appointing Pete Buttigieg or Kamala Harris as her VP instead of Bernie Sanders. She has done so many things that make me suspect she won’t follow through on her radical rhetoric, or will shift to the center in a general election, or won’t be willing to fight as hard as necessary. Look at that moment in the State of the Union where Donald Trump promised that America would “never be a socialist country.” Warren stood up and applauded, as Bernie sat and fumed. This was a very clear “Which side are you on?” moment. She was asked whether she was with Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump, and she said Trump. Warren faced another test in 2016: She had the opportunity to endorse Sanders, giving him a significant boost in his attempt to overthrow the corporate Democratic establishment. She chose to sit out the race. This might well have put Trump into office. I think it’s completely indefensible: It suggests a failure to appreciate how high the stakes are, and a lack of commitment to the left agenda. It was a chance to take a stand against the Democratic establishment, and it could have made a huge difference. She didn’t do it."

On the off-chance anyone is sincerely supporting these sentiments and not a Russian troll, you should realize that this kind of rhetoric is actually reinforcing that Elizabeth Warren is the right choice. Please revisit Bernie's old slogan "not me, us." The presidency is a job, not a personality cult.

I am so sick of listening to Bernie worshippers.

I'm getting really tired of it too. I was a massive Bernie supporter in 2016 but the idea that he's a better candidate than Warren is just not serious.

WOWZER! Very eye opening.

Warren's responsibility for loyalty is to the people, not to Bernie.

Yes, but it tells us where she stands, and the people's responsibility is to vote for the candidate who supports the policies they prefer.

@skado Senetor Warren has 70 years of history to demonstrate her principles and her policies. These comments about Bernie are just a deflection, not relevant to any serious consideration of the candidates.

@KJThomas
Clearly, not everyone is of the same opinion.

@skado how's Putin, troll?

@KJThomas
How’s not having any argument but name-calling?

Thank you!!

Anyone who supports Warren over Bernie, has not done their research or is participating in a form of apologetics for her behaviour which I don't respect. This goes beyond her actions stated in this post.

Yes, she'd be better than Trump, but she can't be trusted. This is not a "privileged white male" argument. I'm a woman and I agree with the comments in this post. She has flipped her support shamelessly for more notoriety and abandoned Bernie, as a career move, even though her policies were aligned with his. No, I don't think that's okay, just because "men have been doing it for decades."

You're either a solid human, who doesn't abandon your principles, or you're not.

If she can beat Trump (if), I'll be happy, but regarding some of her establishment bullshit, Liz can kiss my ass.

This is one of the trolliest comments I've read lately, and that's really saying something.

Support the democrats and candidates Bernie Warren Biden what ever it takes,supported Bernie before but voted for Hillary rather than orange anus. Will do the same to get back some sense of sanity in D.C.and a big blue tsunami

@KJThomas

You're entitled to your opinion.

Deal with it!

Warren will likely get my vote in the primary. Whoever is on the Dem ticket in the general will definitely get my vote. And, believe me, there are some whom I really, really, hope don't make it that far.

I agree she's better than anyone else - except Bernie.

@Athena agree

Blue-no-matter-who is a recipe for boiled frogs. Most of the Democratic "whos" of today are the approximate equivalent of the moderate republicans of fifty years ago. Lesser-evil voting only guarantees evil will win in the long run.

@skado : These are not normal times and I will not waste a vote on someone who does not stand a chance to beat tRUMPf, or whoever his replacement might be if he goes down before 2020. Even the Democrat candidate that I like the least will be heaps and bounds better than tRUMPf, or Pence or any Republican that comes to my mind.

Boo-hoo.

Another man who's intimidated by an intelligent, independent, strong, articulate woman.

I was campaigning for Warren to run before she decided to, but since then I have learned more about her. I don't know which "man" you're referring to, but to play the sexist card is to deny that women can be just as corrupt or misguided as men can and that just isn't a rational argument. It doesn't mean Warren is evil, just that she's not the candidate that is pulling for the policies I prefer. Jill Stein did.

@skado

Loved Jill Stein! She would be a great VP for Bernie.

@Athena
Yes she would!

@Athena Has Stein done anything since 2016 to build a Green Party? If not, her ego was controlling her.

That was short for "Why the fuck won't this message delete? Fuck, now I have to replace it with something!"

Puke puke puke . . . I'm with you there, although I think that who ends up in the White House is not going to change much, given that it is the Pentagon that is pretty much running the show.

Bernie would kick butt in the White House! He is a force to be reckoned with.

I wish it were true, but president after president has taken office and nothing about foreign policy has changed. Given Bernie's endorsement of Clinton, I can't say I have as much confidence as you do that he would change things. I doubt he COULD change things, because the USA is not a democracy, for one, and, it is being run by the Military Industrial Complex. Follow the money . . . . and it is clear where it is all going.

This is not going to just go away . . . short of taking over the mass media and telling Americans the truth, or more tersely stated . . . . a full blown revolution by the masses.

@Athena How many allies (aka votes) does Bernie have in Congress?

@yvilletom

What are you saying (aka asking)?
I'm very good with direct questions and appreciate them.
