It has been claimed, and I don't think so unbelievably so, that Trump only ran to improve his marketing brand. Name recognition by claiming he ran. He never expected to win the election, just reap the rewards for his company logo from being associated with running.

No question about it! His entire objective has been to enrich himself and his family, with enough benefits to his oligarch friends to keep himself in office. He's totally amoral and it's undoubtedly easy for him to ''get into bed'' with Putin, the Saudis, etc.
