How do we continue to have politictions that fail to represent the peoples wishes that elected them? How do we break this trend? How do we get Congress to work together for the good of the country via compromise?

Get rid of the 2 party monopoly and give a sporting chance to third party candidates. When most people wake up and realize neither party truly represents their grievances, something might actually change for the better.

I hate to say it, but I don't believe it's possible without bloodshed. The only way it can happen is to get private money out of politics. And that's something no politician will ever vote for because that would take away their ability to accept bribes through lobbyists and PACs.

There needs to be a general fund with money collected from taxpayers either through state and federal taxes or possibly sales tax that is divided between candidates to run their elections. No personal money or donations would be allowed to maintain an even playing field.

The problem is that no matter how good a person's intentions are in the beginning no one is incorrurtible.
