So lysol can be used as a disinfectant? Another question is in regards to cloth bags and other cloths. Will putting them in a dryer set on high kill the virus? (answered with the example of heat). Good to know about food.
Wow, that's a lot of being careful! Too late for what I've already got in my house, but will keep some of those tips in mind for future trips home from the market. It's all I can do sometimes not to get into some of the goodies, while driving home. Have broken myself of nibbling on newly purchased items until I've washed my hands at least! Good to have tips like these from someone in the medical profession, with some common sense talk.
I have been doing this!! If I do not need the items within 3 days they sit just inside the entry door. I live in an apartment complex so I won't be leaving my purchases outside. Plus I have not bought any frozen food since mid Feb.
Thank you for posting this for everyone who might not think this way.
The same here but things go into the pantry and stay a while. I'm anal about rotating so new stuff goes in the back and old stuff out front.
@JackPedigo I date the stuff with a sharpie so I can easily see when it needs to be used. BUT the big thing I have figured out is the hand sanitizers make me feel ill !! I've detailed the expose for Kittitas county b4. I was using my usual level of caution when I went out to get alcohol on 3/12 went I went to 3 stores, lots of wipes and Fred Meyer was using a spurt bottle of some sort of disenfectant. Not finding any I went back out on 3/13 to 2 more stores more wipes more chemicals. by 1am Saturday morning I have a headache, sorta body achy, the site of my 2nd shingles vac shot was sore (it'd been a month since I'd gotten it) just a general feeling of malaise. But by Monday morning I feel real good. By now we had also heard about #3 and #4 and #4 exposing the school etc. The whole county on lock down and pins and needles. Friday the 20th I needed some fresh vegies, 2 stops copious disenfectants, wipes etc PLUS wiping down my keys, sun glasses, and sterring wheel. Yep,
you guesed it, Friday night after dinner, headachy and general feeling of malaise. FUCK!!! Now I have to put on gloves to handle the shopping carts at the market. Before this virus scare I used wipes to clean the handle of the cart. I did not wipe down my hands (unless I was coming from the garden plot), my exposure was more minimal than what it was on the shopping trips since 3/12. This may explain why I so loath going shopping, the underlining sense of malaise was not something I could attribute to a particular shopping trip but that I just did not feel good shopping. I will definitely put on gloves for my next trip and see how I feel within 12 to 24 hours after.
@silverotter11 It really sounds rough. I also hate it when I discover an allergy I didn't know I had. Luckily, at my last shopping trip I got enough GF items before this virus really hit. I made a diluted solution of bleach/water and had made some towelettes. When going to the stores I noticed all the wipes in shopping carts or on the floor but brought a plastic bag and kept them after use (they are still good for later). Trader Joe's and Fred Meyer and the Co-op are the stores I use. Unfortunately they are mostly in Bellingham (Luckily there is Chuckanut Drive so I don't have to take I-5). I am still good for at least 2 weeks (2 months for the GF breads). Also, just filled out an order online for our local co-op store, Blossom [blossomgrocery.com] I need to look up TJ's senior days.
