ugh. No thanks.

What did I do wrong to get hit like that?

@Melbates Sorry. That wasn't meant to be a "hit." I just get uncomfortable talking about he subject. Which is probably why I should be discussing it.

@phil21 no, not you. Them. You didn't hit me. I'm asking what I did for the people who attacked me to hit me like that?

@Melbates Ugh. I'm sorry, Mel. My theory has always been "People can be assholes." White people, gay people, Mexican people, weather forecasters, teachers, bus drivers, that guy over there doing something in front of the building. But I try not to attach anything to it other than jerkiness. I know I am sometimes wrong, that people do feel a certain away toward "different" people.

Yes indeed it does. Prejudice is in all human societies as is ethnocentrism. We humans are afraid of the "other". Still I feel that we have made progress in America to overcome this fear and to be more accepting of differences. I was a child in the 50s and believe me on a personal level people are much more open minded.

I just feel like sometimes society gives POC's a pass on their behavior. Maybe out of guilt for the hell white man wrought. But, shit! What did I do wrong in that post????
