If Karen here can't handle the anxiety resulting from a late food order, she sure as hell can't be trusted with a gun and the authority vested in her as an officer of the law.
Seriously, this is who we have protecting and serving? No wonder so many people die because an officer felt threatened.
#DefundThePolice
Very shallow, very ignorant, very evil response. So very woke. And stupid.
Wonderful, and what is your response?
We have all had mixed up orders on food. She seems paranoid.
Given the current attacks on police, including glass, and razorblades, delivered to police, you need to get a clue.
@Jacar Clue yourself. Half my family are law enforcement that doesn't mean food orders don't get mixed up.
@Jacar
Attacks on police?
How about you try to clue yourself into the massive amounts of police brutality that they are perpetrating on the public in response to demonstrations against systemic police brutality.
@VeronikaAnnJ Jacar is well known for popping in and trying to make trouble.
Is erupting at every white thing cool now? Just brave online warriors, uh? It wasn't cool for decades, nobody talked about it here for the entire time I have been here and I bet nobody will talk about it after a couple of months.
How many of you have stood up against racial discrimination against blacks, immigrants, women at workplaces? Has any man complained that a woman colleague was being paid less and placed a complaint? Answer yourself honestly. I bet all of you saved your asses each time.
What white thing? I am white so I'll erupt on white things if I choose to. It's kind of confusing though. Is it a white thing we are erupting at because she is white? If so, she is a white thing, so you are calling her a thing. Or is erupting at cops erupting at a white thing? If that's true, it assumed all cops are white, which is sorta somewhat true I guess and that is a big part of the problem.
Are you saying nobody talked about police brutality and racism until now? I have, many people have. The black lives matter movement started during the Obama administration. It didn't just appear out of nowhere.
Are you not one of those brave online warriors? With your anti Bernie campaign of conservatism. Don't shit on people for doing the right thing online and assuming they don't do good in person. I was in DC during Trump's inauguration. I was waving signs and taking abuse from red hat wearing assholes. I was tear gassed by the riot police because I was standing in the streets shouting about what they were doing at standing rock. Where were you? I was at the woman's march the following day marching with thousands of like minded people. Where were you? I supported the Democratic candidate who fights the hardest for the downtrodden and all you did was call him a communist hunchback.
Spare me with your fake concern about the wage gap. I've heard about how you treat women and how you actually feel about them. You are a despicable little person taking the side of the cops during a time when most of the country is turning they're backs on them and their brutal ways.
Have you ever stood up for anybody less fortunate than you are? Answer yourself honestly.
@RoboGraham
Yes, I have stood up many times. The truth hurt you, didn't it?
Did you now?
Care to elaborate?
I must give it to you. You have a knack for losing candidates and arguments.
Okay then, I'll take that as a no, you haven't done anything to stand up for anyone. You just like to talk shit about other people, accusing them off being keyboard warriors when that's all you are yourself. And you aren't very good at.
You have a knack for embarrassing yourself.
@RoboGraham
I am talking about an issue. It is not people. That is your area.
So you stand up for issues not people?
But you went on a rant about how we don't stand up for people. That seems hypocritical to me.
@VeronikaAnnJ
You have a black friend? My question was about the workplace.
@RoboGraham"""" Great diatribe: but:::..You appear to have missed the point, again. Where does your guilt come from? Do you consider yourself an SJW.
@Jacar
No, I consider myself a decent human person, or at least I strive to be one.
Do you consider yourself a weirdo? Because you are one.
@Jacar
You can see from the thread from the start that @RoboGraham has inflated ideas about himself.
We can also see from the thread that you are a hypocrite
This says she is human, if she was a sociopath who didn't give a crap about anything she wouldn't be having such a hard time coping. Tough time to be a good cop these days when you have a bad name by association. Agree that she probably should take some personal time off. 3 months of covid plus blm?? come on people, If you don/t support cops with heart, we will end up with cops without heart.
I agree, we should value cops who have heart. Officers need compassion and empathy to do their jobs effectively.
This person though, I don't see any of that. Her tears are totally selfish. She is upset about a totally common occurrence. She had to wait for her food. Big friggen deal, happens all the time. She is riddled with anxiety assuming that the employees making her food are out to get her.
I don't think a person like that is capable of protecting and serving. If this meltdown occurred over nothing, how does she respond to actual stressful dangerous situation?
It's true that this is a particular difficult time for cops and they fully deserve it, they have brought it upon themselves with their brutal and unfair behavior. If cops are breaking down because of a few weeks of people not treating them with the respect that they have come to assume they deserve, how do you think minorities feel after putting up with that kind of stuff and much worse all their lives?
@RoboGraham
I am glad you agree that good cops should be valued.
You make the judgement that "Karen is selfish" . Is she selfish? OR... 1) is she low blood sugar and in desperate need of food? 2) I'm sure she did not video to get humiliated..seems more like frustration and a cry for help. 3) she unselfishly ordered her food via phone app so they don't give her free food. BUT if she ordered in person, they probably would have expedited her food quicker like all fire, ambulance emergency personnel. So she was probably used to it coming out quicker.
You make the judgement that Karen is Not " capable of protecting and serving. If this meltdown occurred over nothing, how does she respond to actual stressful dangerous situation?" Are you a psychologist? did you do a psych exam on her? I have No argument she appears distressed, again repeating she probably needs time off. She maybe just hangry and low blood sugar.
To say " they have brought it upon themselves with their brutal and unfair behavior" You are stereotyping. Not all cops are. This kind of comment creates unnecessary prejudice.
To say "cops are breaking down because of a few weeks" nobody knows what happened before. Have you never last minute gone to work due to call outs to help your brethren? Have you ever skipped a meal because of being too busy thinking you'll grab something later...but later never happens? Have you ever been stuck in an emergency where you could not get food? Have you ever got stuck doing over time because you literally could not go anywhere. She could have had a whole cluster of it. This is not a carefree day working at the surf shop back as a 16yr old.
It seems with your comments that that you push yourself and avoid being a wuss. Perhaps you have never pushed yourself enough or you would understand what it is like to breakdown. Everyone has their breaking point.
Are you concerned and have contribution to solving the problem? or are you part of the problem adding to the hostility? Just saying be kind. Peace
@VeronikaAnnJ yep. hope she gets help. I've seen very rational people get like this when they have diabetes and have not eaten
Yeah, she certainly didn't make the video to be humiliated but humiliation is what she got and lots of it. I think she did it for sympathy. I think she is confused about why people are so upset with cops right now and she doesn't know how to handle it, which makes her very out of touch.
I don't think it takes a psychologist to see that a meltdown was caused over something totally trivial and come to the conclusion that a person that emotionally unstable probably shouldn't be walking around armed and with authority to kill if she feels threatened. She felt threatened that the employees were tampering with her food and had no reason to think that. Okay, maybe she was hangry or had low blood sugar, whatever the reason, I don't want armed unstable cops patrolling in my area, do you?
Of course not all cops are brutal but almost all will at least cover for the ones who are. It is a fraternal brotherhood and they protect their own. They are meant to protect and serve the public but when the shit hits the fan, most of them will side with their brothers. That, in my mind, makes all of them deserving of what is being dished out to them right now. It is long overdue.
Stress for cops has been much greater over the last few weeks due to the demonstrations and public opinion turning against them. Sure their jobs have never been easy. Sure, I've had stressful things happen to me which caused me to behave stupidly but my job isn't nearly as important as theirs and the difference in pay reflects it. If you sign up to be a cop, you know what you are getting into and if you can't handle it, you should do something else.
I've been pushed to the breaking point before. I know what that's like. It ain't pretty. But when that happens, I don't feel the need to film it and put it out there looking for sympathy. She was upset that she had to wait and that people don't thank her enough. It strikes me as selfish, and loads of other people feel the same way which is why she has been labeled officer Karen.During the pandemic, that happened to a lot of healthcare workers too. It didn't seem selfish coming from them. They were breaking down because of the stress and long hours but also the inability to save people and facing death everyday. Now that, I can understand. And they didn't even complain about not being thanked.
I'm not concerned about her. I hope she finds a difference job. I am concerned about people who end up having run ins with emotionally unstable cops like her. I would like to contribute to the solution actually. I think much of the responsibilities that police are given ought to be lifted from their shoulders. They shouldn't be dealing with crazy people, mental health professionals should go to those calls. They shouldn't be dealing with homeless, we should have enough affordable housing to do away with homelessnrss. They shouldn't be dealing with drug users. The drug war should be ended and doctors and addiction specialists should handle addicts. Basically, I think much of the funding that police get now should be used in other ways to help reduce crime and spread the load of dealing with emergencies so the police don't always have to be the ones on the scene. That will be better for them and for the public. The job of policing would be much simpler and easier if it was taken back to the basics. Respond to crime, protect people, and gather evidence to put away bad guys. If we change society in these ways, police will be less stressed and people will be more cooperative with them. Right now, police are seen as the enemy by much of the population, including myself. We need to change that. We need them to be seen once again as trust worthy heroes, not dangerous villains.
@RoboGraham agree but I change "trivial" to "last straw". and add one more problem is law makers keep adding more laws which becomes why cops are handling all those other issues.
Agreed. We ought to reverse many laws. Laws which criminalize people's life choices ought to be overturned. If there is no victim, there is no crime, IMO
I heard the audio today on the Crabdiving Podcast. This shit is SCARY!
That is seriously disturbing! So much so I don’t want to make a witticism about it (most unusual!)
Go on, we love to hear your witticisms.
What did she do? Just complained or she arrested anyone or made a scene at the window?
What is the fuss about? She is a human too. She is only having an emotional reaction as a private citizen. She says here that she did a long shift and her online order was not complicated - just an English muffin, a hashbrown and a coffee. She was at a "fast food" window, not a seating restaurant. Police officers cannot have human emotions? Was she on duty?
Unless you can provide more evidence that she misbehaved, how is she not a good police officer? I have seen all kinds of people having meltdowns over food orders.
In this this BLM environment, we are finding faults where there is none. What is tragic here is that we will forget this all and go back to our old ways. MLK's sacrifice, his movement did not change the core attitude of people, especially in the South. Trump's election is exactly a result of that. The silent white majority brought Trump in.
We need something better than these weak Karen examples.
Getting frustrated and emotional about an inconvenience is one thing but this person insinuated that she is afraid and does not trust the McDonald's staff with her food. She is playing the victim. She filmed herself breaking into tears because she is looking for sympathy. She is clueless about the current anti-police brutality movement and has no idea why people don't thank her anymore.
If a long wait for some fast food brings her to tears because she is imagining sinister things about the people who work in the restaurant, I can only imagine how she behaves in actual dangerous stressful situations. I don't think it's a good idea for emotionally unstable people to be trusted with a gun and the authority of being an officer of the law. Police officers are suppose to protect and serve, not make unfounded assumptions about people.
This isn't about her misbehaving. It's about an emotional outburst based on a ridiculous assumption that she has come to, thinking that the employees are out to get her. A person who thinks that way isn't stable enough to handle the high stress duties of policing.
@VeronikaAnnJ
Exactly, they always have to assert their dominance and escalate situations.
I feel anxious every time I see a cop. I can't even imagine how black folks must feel.
@RoboGraham She is crying and she is emotional. Being a police officer means not have human emotions of frustration, disappointment? Where in this video or report it said she misbehaved in her police role? What makes her Karen?
You are painting all white women that don't fit into your criteria just because we feel empowered online to call them Karen? Nothing in the report supports your reaction.
@RoboGraham, @VeronikaAnnJ Annoys you. That happens to all of us including by by close and extended family members but is our reaction proportionate to her meltdown? Are we not over-reacting? Now we are online reverse-lynching?
All reactions here are disproportionate to what she did. We are in the fever of calling out and being brave online to call anyone and anything we want. Being a police officer does not mean you cannot frustrated or cannot cry. There is no proof in the report that she misused her position as a police officer.
What we are doing here is making us look low, not her. Go to your rooms and think about what you did.
@VeronikaAnnJ The point should not be hard to understand. That is rule #1. What you want to say, say it clearly. The post called her Karen. She did not come across as Karen to me at all., He reaction to late availability of her online order of "Fast Food" after a long and tiring shift is just and reasonable. The post overblows her reaction.
@VeronikaAnnJ
Obviously I made it clear that the post shows nothing that you claim. The problem is us, not her.
Reverse lynching online?
I think you might be as clueless as she is.
@RoboGraham
You just have no idea of what you are thinking and doing. First it was Bernie, now this. When can we learn from mistakes?
What are your thoughts on policing in America?
My thoughts on policing in America?
The police feel invincible because of the protections through the labor contracts and the white solidarity and support among the ranks. In the current progressives' losing streak, it would be a ton of achievements, if we can just achieve this:
I am not even mentioning taking their guns away because we are not capable of winning the fight against the conservatives. We have been losing this for the last 40 years at all levels.
@RoboGraham, @VeronikaAnnJ
Bernie is huge symptom of the problem the followers have underneath. Bernie is just a big pimple of the face of what the problem is inside.
When you choose Bernie, you obviously do not understand how our political environment works, what is possible, the reality of today, especially what not do to shoot ourselves in the foot and how not cause a large damage to own cause. In other words, the country cannot entrust any responsibility in your hands. In soccer terms, it is called a "Self Goal."
We have been losing for the last forty years because Democrat neoliberals keep on pushing the party further right rather than embracing populist leftist policies.
There already is a right wing party, we won't win by trying to beat them at their own game. We lose because democrats, such as yourself, refuse to embrace what is popular and progressive by labeling it pie in the sky and this causes millions of people to become jaded and disillusioned with it all so they don't participate. Why bother when both parties are basically the same?
Don't believe me? Take a look at history. The most populist progressive president we have every had was the only person to be elected four times and he was the second most popular president in history next to Washington. And he even had physical ailments worse than a hunch back, the man was in a wheel chair.
@VeronikaAnnJ
Franklin Roosevelt
She will fight to the death so you may have your Egg McMuffin!
She is just under stress from trying to adjust to an environment where an overbearing and overstepping authority (including her) is now being scrutinized and reworked for the betterment of everyone.
Some people, especially racists, do not want it better for everyone.
I wonder how all the women named “Karen” are enjoying this new usage
Well, as Karens, they probably think it is the epitome of oppression.
