IIUC, the expectation is that subsequent generations of females will be sterile ----> population inevitably declines.
@FearlessFly yes I've heard of this strategy. i heard an interview of someone about it a long while back. I don't remember if it was being tried or they were still "designing" the mutant mosquito. i hope they do it for chiggers next.
