I can see both sides of the issue. The Tesla brand is valuable, and they want to protect their reputation. If you modify one, you void the warranty and no longer have a Tesla, regardless of the logo. It's your bag, whether worms or gold. If a court case relieves them of liability in similar situations, they can ease up. On the other hand, some people like to personalize their vehicle, and Tesla thwarting their plans is almost unamerican.
