The fact that according to the bible Jesus made several dozen ethical statements, some of which are self contradictions, and many of which come from different political/social viewpoints. Is one of the best reasons for thinking, that he was probably a composite figure, assembled from several historical and fictional parts.

Certainly though, if the bible is to be taken literally, ( big if, ) his main political stance, was to challenge the idea of established religious authority. ( Except perhaps his own. ) For which the established religious authorities killed him. Therefore logically you can't be a Christian and belong to a church.

Not the hammer, sickle & star again! Thought we'd moved beyond the trappings of Lenin and Marx in the 90's!

If the Jesus described in the New Testament was anything, he was a monarchist, the self-appointed ruler over all. The people were his subjects (his children) and much like the Romanovs, some of these children, socialist or not, had him killed, so the story goes.

I wish people would stop thinking of Russia or the Soviet Union as a Socialist State, it was and has been a dictatorship. Never anything else.

If you understood biblical text, Jesus character is a product of the old testiment peoples, their thinking and society.

Is the old testiment about socialism?

Understand the old testiment thinking and words that were written as to what was spoken [prophetic] and you could better understand Jesus character. As purported, John 1:14 ... the word [thoughts, spoken words] become flesh.

Jesus character could old do as the old testiment said because as purported, Jesus character was the manifestation of those words spoken.

It us like the movie "Stranger than Fiction " with actor Will Ferrell (2006). He had to do as the author wrote.

Go to this group if interested in discussing more along these lines of understanding.

The evangelicals in the U.S. want a Theocracy.

@Fred_Snerd I doubt they would agree with you. Most people think they are the "true"___.

@Fred_Snerd Yeah, unfortinately I was brainwashed into their dogma and bought it as a child and young adult. At least eventually I grew out of the adult Santa myth.

U.S. us a theocracy

Where does this video originate from?

@Fred_Snerd From where did you pick it? I am an atheist activist youtuber, this seems like a good person to learn from and or interview.

@Fred_Snerd Awesome thank you!

We all here have already dismissed Jesus. No sale here. Try next door.

@Fred_Snerd
Why? I stopped thinking about Jesus a long time ago. Is that why are all here?

@VeronicaAnn

Please try again. I can be convinced. I am a moderate voter. Can swing either way for the right argument for the nation.
