I have a dream of a world where they have an up to date pandemic plan, where once people start dying in any Country, the boarders are closed, (with appropriate quarantines, once they know about the time a virus can infect someone), and track and trace programs are implemented straight away. Where people are responsible and understand the need to wear masks properly and care about their vulnerable and elderly population.
Oops, too late! Maybe next time.

The lockdown was not a waste of time, it was a wasted lockdown. The reason for the lockdown should have been to prevent a spike while the government implemented testing and tracing procedures to isolate infected people and prevent the spread to elderly and everybody else. They didn't do any of that. They focused on damage control.
