I’ve had Covid for 4 weeks now — dry, hacking cough; crippling fatigue; brain fog; heart arrhythmia, insomnia., but no ventilator required. I guess I’ve got 2 more months before insanity hits. Yeehaw!

Hopefully not! Only 1 in 5 have psychological repercussions. With luck you'll be one of the 4 unaffected.
Apart from your heart arrhythmia & cough do you have any problem with any digestive organs or kidneys and have they indicated that there will be any lasting repercussions?
Do you know how you caught the virus?

I'm skeptical of any reporting on RT. The mental illness symptoms listed don't surprise me as I would expect that Covid's impact on the central nervous system as well as organs such as the heart, lungs, and kidneys would produce those mental issues, at least temporarily, until the body recovers.

Tom are you preared to pay the subscription? The report is from the prestigious English medical journal the Lancet simply reproduced by RT.

Thankfully I've escaped 😊

How are things in Joburg?

@FrayedBear we've had a very long lockdown moving from level 5 down to level 1. Many non-essential businesses (listed for lockdown purposes) were closed and as result many lost their business and their staff ended up with no jobs. Many South Africans lost their homes and many many more people lost their jobs or could not earn because of the nature of their jobs, my job included.

These are the latest stats received from our Ward. We receive them every couple of days. . I don't believe they are accurate. We haven't tested enough, i believe more were/are infected and the death stats I believe were/are also under reported.

Shows a giant increase in recorded recoveries in Gauteng - 1975 as opposed to 211 new infections. Active infections are now only 4061, which is lower than the Western Cape. But it’s very strange that nearly half (1853) of all active cases in Gauteng are in hospital. Something needs to be corrected here.

This happens when they want the stats to look good but in reality not so good.

@TimeOutForMe Our stats were like that in the beginning when tests were harder to get. They were concentrating on those in greatest need: i.e. needing hospital care. Now more testing stations have been rolled out for general cases.

@girlwithsmiles In my opinion they locked us down without an effective plan in place. The purpose for the lockdown was to contain the spread of the virus and to test as many as possible. Hotline numbers were provided nationally for the different areas and addresses provided for the testing stations. ...but plenty reported negative feedback regarding testing station staff not being on time, a half day wait 🙄, testing kits run out (waiting for more supplies) etc. We've heard people have died at home and death certificates for many of those who died in hospital showing as died of "natural causes"! People were turned away from hospitals and were told only if they experienced a few symptoms, were on chronic meds and over 55. We only had about 10 000 ICU units countrywide to begin with, so only serious cases dependent on ventilation etc. ...and then there were issues that medical staff didn't have the necessary protection etc I just hope we find a cure and put all this tragedy behind us. I know easier said than done because besides the untold number of deaths, people lost their livelihoods to survive, some have already lost everything. A global tragedy indeed. Let's hope these vaccines put out there to be administered work for those that need it most. I think there'll be more trial runs before we can say, we finally got it! some suspect by midyear 2021.
Our country's problems included govt corruption on many levels. ie govt officials selling PPE supplies meant for public testing and hospitals, the billions of rands of funding has disappeared and the list goes on. Its a damn shame.

@TimeOutForMe Outside of the capital, Melbourne, we've only had minor numbers despite the idiocy of not properly advising people on masks, risk factors, after effects and contagion. Even Melbourne contrary to Murdoch press & right wing national government have not been seriously infected. Australia has a population about half of S.Africa and Victoria a total of about 6.6 million largely living around the Melbourne - Geelong area.
Here are today's stats:

@FrayedBear the numbers are low. The less casualties, the better, for families and country.

Three neighbours have, but I'm not panicking.

You only need 2 more to know that the probability that you have a psychiatrically ill neighbour has just increased exponentially!

@FrayedBear Jo'burg? Wouldn't know. You're closer.

@Petter sorry. Wrong respondent. Moved.

Not yet, but my cousin and niece have.

Watching for symptoms and repercussions?

@FrayedBear they’ve only just had it. My cousin went back to work this week and niece still has the cough apparently.
