R/atheism page about a user’s Christmas present
He says he and his wife are "very outspoken" atheists and then they thank their inlaws for giving them a Bible for Christmas. He has misrepresented he and his wife as "outspoken".
Once one establishes themselves as an outspoken atheist, people who know do not raise the issue of religion around you because they know their position is unsupportable. People who don't know are immediately schooled on the subject. If anyone gave me a Bible, I would decline it in a very outspoken way.
There are circumstances where some atheists have to stay in the closet and they should be protected, but its time for those of us who are free to speak out to do so, especially in our own families.
