What a blunder it was, in the 1980s, to not count how many evangelicals the GOP was inviting to join. There were enough of them to capture many state parties but not enough to capture the national party.

They elected many GOP candidates but the national party did nothing for them. Their being exploited angered them. In 2016 the demagogue Trump united them and they captured the national party

In 2018 they lost the House. In 2020 they lost the presidency and the Senate.

In 2022 can the GOP-controlled states block enough Democratic voters to retake the House or the Senate?
