So in a age of conspiracy theories going mainstream, it seems like the 1st amendment might get some valid criticism(s), because there is no such thing as a perfect system.
Which part of the First Amendment do you think deserves valid criticism?
How about the ability to knowingly spread and/or promotes misinformation and falsehoods for the sake of ratings and profits, which is allowed under the 1st amendment.
Anyway, my point was that no system is perfect and those imperfections can be legitimately criticized.
@snytiger6 We have laws against Slander. Those laws even apply to politicians albiet to a lesser extent. If proven to be deliberate, misinformation and falsehoods could and have resulted in huge monetary awards and even prison time.
Last, of course we have imperfections, but the Bill of Rights is not one of them.
@Alienbeing lately those slander laws don't really protect anyone anymore.
@snytiger6 The laws have remained constant. Of course such laws protect no one unless the slandered person brings action against the alleged tort feasor.
