It's always dangerous. What's so special about one's country, anyway?

I think, at this period of history, nationalism in itself is dangerous. We have to start thinking in terms fo "world" and "planet", or else we will likely end up destroying ourselves. The planet is a closed system and we are destroying the only environment in which we have to live by pursuing national advantages.

Nationalism is somewhat tied to religion. Evangelical Christianity has become a political movement or a front for White Nationalists.

Wanting the US to do well at the Olympics is essentially harmless but the nationalism that's going on in this country right now is dangerous. Blaming every one who doesn't look like me. The rise in hate groups and hate crimes. We must combat this right here right now.

I think nationalism is always dangerous, if not directly then as the seeds of xenophobia, manifest destiny, us-vs-them, etc.
