In India, Muslims have been killed simply because they were accused of killing cows. Pretty suture most cows are safe.

"We make these sacrifices today to the twin gods of Stupidity and Ignorance."

OMFG!
Sacrifice in a healthy form would be like “Spend money to make money” you know, like loosing a battle to win a war. It’s more strategy than virtue, just like animal sacrifice. Honestly the life of an animal means nothing to me. I’m not arguing that my opinion is a good one, it’s just it is what it is. I eat many species of animal and I never consider the trauma the animal had or anything about the character of the “meat” I’m consuming. I doubt many do to be honest. If that indifference is a general human condition then how is killing an animal a sacrifice from the perspective of virtue?
I love it when PETA and other animal rights groups help me be aware. Just because I’m callous is no reason to view Vegans, PETA, and such with negativity, they are trying to make me more aware of an aspect of life that I’ve had no reason to be aware of but is where the bulk of suffering occurs on our planet. I despise all non food abuse of animals. Big game hunters are disgusting, as are animal fights as gambling, and religious animal sacrifice. I lost my shit when I found out about Hasidic Jews sacrificing chickens. It’s barbaric and not a sacrifice because it means nothing. If you want to sacrifice then take on a job in your community for no pay part of your week, that’ll mean something because you could be high at home masterbaiting to clown porn. That’s sacrifice.

On a tangential theme, the poultry that I keep enjoy happy and healthy lives until they meet the chopping block, after which they are plucked, gutted, hung, cooked and eaten.

I disagree with your attempt to equivocate animal sacrifices with those who are meat eaters among us. It’s not that I particularly enjoy thinking about what the animal might feel. It’s that I see the practice of sacrificing animals to an imaginary being as not only a waste of resources in such a poor country. I simply find it barbaric and yet another ignorant ritual perpetrated by fanatical religions.

@HelenRoseBuck Then let’s just agree it’s atrocious, each has their own reasons. I’ll stand by my statement because it’s my experience, and I am a meat eater.
