Idealistic bull crap
If everyone tried to live by this list, but were still human, society would collapse in hours

Number 1 is a recipe for disaster, the whole world revolves around lies, we even have lies for what we call lies and dishonesty such as:
consideration,
discretion,
prudence,
judiciousness
tactfulness
Self deprecation
etiquette
courtesy
decorum
respect
politesse and above all diplomacy

Number 2 is likely to get you killed or at best taken advantage of
Number 4 is stupid with will bring your personal progress to a complete staggering arrogant halt
Number 3 is in itself an assumption that everyone can differentiate and adjust their actions accordingly between an assumption, a logical deduction, an extrapolation and a judgment based on observation and or evidence and so is very dangerous

EDIT one might also note that number 3b directly invalidates the whole of number 1

@altschmerz The trick is to recognise when things are being directed personally against you, at which point it is unwise not to admit to it and deal with it appropriately.
When a person is actively moving against yourself, ignoring it can be fatal.
Self-protection is a natural instinct, a survival instinct. You need not confront every jab or jibe someone makes to you, but what they say about you can destroy your life, this is why we have libel and slander laws.
You have a right to your own dignity, there is nothing admirable in “turning the other cheek” when you recognise there is no good reason or right for them ever hitting you in the first place.

@altschmerz Intent is everything, quite right

Some others not necessarily implied: Be Truthful. Seek to ennoble and inform in your discourse. Seek to understand the motives of others. Keep it brief and use simple language. Gauge your language to your audience. Only be eloquent when the occasion permits. Avoid speaking out of egotism. Admit when you don't know the answer. Be patient and understanding when others are speaking. Listen actively. Always: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Prefer your list.

@Fernapple Very much thanks for that!

Nice sentiment

True, however, remember sentimentality is no virtue, it is a self-indulgent weakness that leads only to disappointment and disillusion.
