This never was rental forgiveness, it was eviction moratorium. Those tenants have accrued substantial back due debt. I'm not a wealthy man, in fact I hate rich people, but not every landlord is rich. Many have big mortgages and count on the rent to help keep them afloat. It's not as cut and dry as people may think.
