LINK School Hit By $1,000,000 Lawsuit After Girl's Hair Gets Cut - YouTube

The problem with John's initial response regarding whether or not the teacher should be fired is that he's not taking into consideration the child at all. He's talking about "teachers" and how they are undervalued.

I'm confused as to how that's even relevant to the scenario. It's a POV that ignored the victim's personal dignity, confidence in body autonomy and respect of her family, all undervalued by the teacher's actions. Why should how this affects the teacher even be considered? Not firing her makes it easy to infer that the teacher's future, regardless of her actions, are more relevant than the child ability to feel safe and secure in the environment.

I'm glad Jayar was there to present an apparently "POC perspective" and address the scenario in a fuller context.

That teacher will just have a job on her resume that she won't want to talk about if she were fired. That CHILD has to look at an adult woman and an aide who assaulted her every day that CHILD attends that school. She will be required to pretend it doesn't matter while any kid with a petty issue reminds her in a million different ways of what happened to her.
