How old do you have to be to join AARP? I turned 50 in August and get weekly junk mail, begging me to join.

When they send you those AARP cards, you can present them and get the discount. I've never done it, but I've worked at places where people presented them, we never called them in, we just gave the discount.

Nice cheat! Thanks! So far, all I've gotten cardwise was a thick, laminated cardboard "gift certificate" to be returned with my fees for a handy dandy trunk organizer (which I already own).
It took me some time to spend the money to join because I could not take any of the advantages for doing so.
