Kazakhstan's president said in a televised speech Friday that he ordered security forces to "shoot to kill without warning" in an attempt to forcibly suppress an unexpected uprising, adding that those who failed to surrender "need to be destroyed."
Why it matters: "Dozens" of protesters have been killed and around 4,000 arrested, according to the government. At least 18 security forces have also been killed. A phone and internet blackout has made it virtually impossible to track events nationally, but the order will likely result in more deaths.
(I believe this is the direction the current republican party is trying to take the U.S. They have already many times referred to peaceful protesters (mostly BLM) as "terrorists".)
Jan 6th might have gone this way if it had happened as a reaction against a sitting Dem POTUS who had just won re-election. It's because of the WH occupant that his people were not arrested or shot on the spot and it is taking so long to find them. I feel more for the Kazakhstan rioters because they, apparently, want more liberal govt but that doesn't excuse their method. Just as the 1/6 rioters can not be forgiven their exuberant actions. Nobody died from a BLM protester. In fact, the reason for the protest was because of a murder so it is not equivalent.
