We Got Scared
We’re still scared.
Anti-religious propaganda plays on the emotions (complete with dramatic music) just as pro-religious propaganda does.
Real science doesn’t have to rely on dramatic presentations.
It just looks at the data. The data don’t always tell comforting or inspiring stories. They just tell how things are, and have been, and sometimes, how they are likely to be in the future.
“De Waal contends that all social animals have had to restrain or alter their behavior for group living to be worthwhile. Pre-moral sentiments evolved in primate societies as a method of restraining individual selfishness and building more cooperative groups. For any social species, the benefits of being part of an altruistic group should outweigh the benefits of individualism.”

Religion is dying, get over it.
Science also tells us: “There is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate,” - Stephen Hawkins
The "universe adds up to nothing, then you don't need a God to create it." Oct 18, 2018 - Stephen Hawkins

@nogod4me
Let’s look at scientifically gathered evidence, instead of just opinion, shall we? Even when opinions are favorable…
“Hoffer called himself an atheist but had sympathetic views of religion and described it as a positive force.”

@skado All of which can be corrupted, and has been corrupted throughout history. The negatives have always outweighed any positives.
Now if you could stick a thermometer up a god's ass and tell us it's temperature that may convince people not to be naughty, and that would be science.
To say religion makes people feel good, doesn't take science, religion has always been a crutch for most people, and people will kill and allow their children to die for that crutch.
Beliefs are diverse and fickle, and fear will always separate people with hate and self-induced insanity.
@nogod4me
Everything humans do can be, and has been, corrupted, but that’s no cause to abandon civilization. The idea that the negatives have outweighed the positives is popular folklore these days, largely due to Dawkins et al, but I’ve not been able to find any scientific corroboration of that, and I have no idea how it could ever be quantified for comparison. If you find it, please let me know.
@skado I'm sure there are many things that you are not aware of, however, willful ignorance is no excuse.
You admit that religion can be, has been, and will continue to be corrupted, yet you advocate for it to continue because "science" says it makes people feel good. You sound like a believer regurgitating nonsense.
