LINK Christian lawmaker resigns after sharing "objectifying" pics of female aide

On Friday, Nebraska State Senator Mike Groene announced that he would resign his seat after a female legislative aide found pictures of herself—allegedly zoomed in on certain body parts and including sexually suggestive captions—on his computer while she was working on a project for him.

All of this represents a fall from grace for a conservative lawmaker who once argued that even atheists should promote religion since it kept people in line.

Religion is not a watchdog. Everyone is fascinated with the mechanics of how we got here. I like porn pics too but have no suggestive sexual remarks to go along with any of them. We live in an age where this is the trophy that everyone wants. Only an oddball does not have this. People I know do not show up in sexual pics on my computer.

Religion does a miserable job of "keeping people in line". If you have morals, you have them whether or not you follow a religion. But (and this is just my opinion) religion gives rascals a form of cover; since they're "good Christians" or so forth, they're supposedly above suspicion. Until the day they aren't.
