LINK Ukraine invasion spurs Georgia to apply for EU membership

The Georgian government submitted its application for European Union membership last week — two years ahead of schedule, as domestic support for Ukraine galvanized calls to look West.

Why it matters: Leaders in the Republic of Georgia hope that the shockwaves caused by Russia's invasion will spur reluctant EU members to admit longtime aspirants like Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.

Good for them. Maybe Russia will mind there own business & pull out Ukraine.

You don’t really believe that, do you😉

@Canndue I like the optimism of the idea of Russia pulling out, even if it doesn't seem all that realistic.

@snytiger6 Me too….damn reality gets in the way all the time

The NATO/EU push is what caused Ukraine's invasion so I don't see this as helping. The EU has no Article 5 so that likely won't save Georgia or Moldova. It would have been better for Russia to join the EU following Brexit but KGB always preferred the macho thingy.
