Friedrich Nietzsche was no friend of religion; however, he did suggest that religion was useful for sorting those who naturally follow orders from those who naturally give orders and commands to others. My question is : even if we see no use in the actual beliefs held, is there a social or moral benefit for allowing religious groups to organise in an otherwise secular society?
Thanks for your comment. It strikes me that beyond manipulation of others that there's not much else to religion. Unfortunately until late people can act ethically in order to live well rather than avoid punishment I've little confidence that dogmatic religion will go away.
