The Ukrainian government had to hand out firearms to untrained and unfamiliar citizens when the fighting started.
You wouldnā€™t have that issue in the US unless the anti gun nuts decided they wanted to protect themselves for once.

@TheMiddleWay
Well, Ukrainian is still at war and people are still dying. Maybe they should have had more gunsā€¦..

Japan considered attacking the US at the beginning stages of WW2 but wisely stated ā€œthere would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.ā€

Also, the guns favored by mass shooters are still far less capable of those that the military hands out. The mindset of the 2nd amendment was to keep the citizens equal to a military invasion from the outside or inside. Technology has changed so weā€™re still very under armed. But the issue isnā€™t the guns. If we eliminated guns completely, theyā€™d use knives. If we outlawed knives, theyā€™d use axes. If we outlawed axes, theyā€™d use cars.

Why not look at the root cause of the issue than the weapon used. Guns are little more than tools. Thereā€™s a million tools available to an idiot with a retarded mindset.

@TheMiddleWay

Over turn the 2nd amendment and you can be overpowered too.

And the firearm used hasnā€™t been made public yet. So your argument is currently only assumption.

@TheMiddleWay

Then support banning cars. More people have died today in car wrecks than this yearā€™s shootings. Many in road rage situations. Many in drunk driving instincts. The car was the tool, so ban all cars. Iā€™m many cases, alcohol backed the situation. So letā€™s outlaw alcohol too.

Iā€™m interested to year your argument.

@TheMiddleWay
In government speak, restrict means eventually ban.
Thereā€™s still far more car deaths than gun deaths per year. By a damn long shot. (Chicago, California, and New York with the gun ā€œrestrictionsā€ lead the nation in gun deaths).
Ban/restrict cars and move to horses and Iā€™ll consider gun bans/restrictions. You guys are the party of equality after all. Letā€™s have equality.

@TheMiddleWay kids can drive a car at 16. 14 is some states.

Tell what states lets anyone buy a gun at that age.

Iā€™ll wait.

@TheMiddleWay
No state in the country allows anyone under the age of 18 to purchase a gun. This shooter had a hand gun and no one in Texas can own a handgun under the age of 21. Yeah; we need more laws that criminals donā€™t follow.

I coached a youth trap shooting team while in college. If you go to any state trap shooting competition, youā€™ll find literally hundreds of kids from the age of 5 to 17 years old carrying shotguns around, and no one gets shot. Itā€™s because they have training. As the shooter, that five year old is responsible for his or her gun. Iā€™ve never seen a single issue. Not one.

The primary reason for this is that they have active fathers in the home. If you look at the vast majority of mass shooting around the world, there is a lack of active fathers in the home. Or just fathers at all really. Same as those responsible for the shootings in the democrat ran areas of Austin, LA, Birmingham, NYC, and Chicago. Fatherless homes and no teaching.

Itā€™s not guns, itā€™s the breakdown of the nuclear family and kids growing up lost, being bullied, families that donā€™t give a shit or donā€™t know how to support a growing boy, teachers that donā€™t care, and a social structure built online rather than actual socialization.

The gunā€™s nothing more than a tool; the same as a car or a bottle in a drunk driving accident, but itā€™s absolutely not the root cause of the real issue. And no one wants to ban cars or beer.

44 kids and adults were killed at a school in 1927 and no gun was used. Guns arenā€™t the root cause. The ignorant and weak simply look at the easiest point because they are too weak and lazy to do much more. Thatā€™s the sign of a liberal.

@TheMiddleWay

Iā€™m assuming the liberals here grew up without fathers as well.

Don't you think the people in Ukraine would want more firearms right now?

BD66 Level 8 May 24, 2022

@TheMiddleWay 7.1 Million (or 1/6 the country) has been displaced because of the fighting. Ukraine is no success tory.

@TheMiddleWay Let's look at the last war:

Deaths per 1,000,000

Ukraine: 217,998 to 324,916 (depending on your source)
USA: 3080

[britannica.com]
[infoukes.com].

@BD66 America's almost universal gun ownership did not help us win any of our last wars. In fact we lost them all.
