LINK Christian preacher: 'If God tells you to kill someone, yes, you should'

(He is encouraging people who her voices in their heads (the mentally ill) to listen to them.)

Mike Winger, a Christian preacher who runs a giant online ministry, recently said believers should listen to the voices in their heads if they believe God is telling them to kill someone.

It was a reference to the biblical story of Abraham, who is told by God in Genesis 22 to kill his son Isaac as a sacrifice. At the last possible second, God says, “Just kidding!” and everyone has a good laugh. The moral of the story, some say, is that we’re supposed to obey God even when it doesn’t make sense because that’s the sort of obedience God demands. (Even though a more honest assessment would focus on the cruelty of God in that situation.)

On his YouTube show recently, Winger was asked by a viewer (at 1:28:45) what he thought about murderers who say God “made them do it”? Instead of dismissing all those killers as kooks, because God doesn’t actually speak to them, Winger took the opposite approach, saying it was always wise to listen to God… then included a caveat saying God probably wouldn’t ask you to kill anyone, as if that makes everything better. ...

Now this is a good example of free speech. This prick is exciting people to violence so is not protected by free speech provisions.
He should be charged and prosecuted. Taken off the air and cancelled.

Well, it depends. He cant' be arrested for just saying it. However, if anyone tries to act on what he says, then he can be arrested, and if anyone successfully acts on what he said, then he can be sued.

The difference is that his speech must be shown to be or proven to be causing harm (to others) for authorities to take action. If he is totally ignored or nobody acts on what he said, then there are no limits or consequences on what he says.

@snytiger6 Bullshit. It's the old yelling "fire" in a picture theatre; still illegal even if no-one gets trampled. The law is there, enforce it.

It is scary that cognitively challenged people listen to evil bastards such as Mike Winger.

I agree with you that preacher is more mentally ill than others that preach a more sainer sermon.

God told me to kill people named Mike. Maybe I should start putting more weight to that?
