@MsKathleen Yep, I think I am so happy BECAUSE I'm alone, and not under someone's thumb anymore. If I have some minor miseries now, they are of my own making and so easily remedied. I felt trapped before. So glad to be free!
One I was in ended about three months ago. Whether she left or I kicked her out, and who exactly was the abuser are matters of debate, but we're both winners in the relationship's conclusion and the current 800-mile distance between us.
