The last time I was in the Zocalo hardly any work had started on excavating the foundation upon which the Spanish Cathedral was erected. This is very exciting to me as history did not begin with Cortez.

When I was in the Zocolo, I couldn't visualize the invaders dismantling the pyramid & building the cathedral upon the foundation. I am able to visualize this now, after decades of excavation. Only a wall had been excavated when I was last there. Entire histories waiting for discovery.
