i had an unnoticed low-grade infection at the base of an upper tooth and was told no chance of replacing it with an implant as the bone had eroded.....luckily the empty spot is not noticeable

I am inclined to think that the nerve(s) will have been severed so not sure if it could simply be re-implanted and probably would require some kind of post to hold it in place.
