What does anybody think of the movie The Passion Of The Christ?

A friend finally convinced me watch the DVD at her house with her so I did, just to give it a chance. I thought the movie was sadistic. Sadistic and twisted in so many ways. I wasted two hours and 7 minutes of my time watching a movie about a complete sadist, sky daddy, who used his own and only son as a guinea pig for all of mankind when he knew in advance mankind would turn bad when he started off with Adam and Eve.

I think the sadist in that movie was Mel Gibson.

Lol true.

The Last Temptation of Christ is a better movie.

Nice one, Satan. (except that you don't exist either.)

Whoops @whoHearer posts crossed.

Agreed. Best Jesus film I’ve seen plus it really pissed the evangelicals off which is worth its production costs in itself!

Avoided watching this one, but rather liked The Last Temptation of Christ when it came out in 1988. I particularly liked knowing it was the subject of evangelical protests and condemnations.

That was a riot over here too...lol. some people were crying about this..

I could not bring myself to watch it. I am not into torture porn--especially if the intent is trying to make me feel guilty for simply being born human.

Lol ikr.

Torture porn. Now there's a concept...
😮

The sequel was better.

i thought they went way over board with the blood, nobody has that much blood

I agree, but you have to realize Christians’ religion is based off an obsession with blood.

It's weird that these folks who just glory in sick films like this won't watch something like Harry Potter because that is so demonic. Sick SOBs.

Ugh I know!

Thank you brother... my dear old mother loved harry potter. Thst was her escape from reality. She got me hooked.

I haven't seen it and don't intend to. Surely I can find better things to waste my time on.

Christians would have you believe that what the Romans did to Christ was cruel and usually punishment. That they singled him out and treated him especially cruel. The truth is that this was standard operating procedure for death by crucifix. Not all were nailed to the cross. Some were bound, other were crucified upside down. In any case death by crucifixion was considered one of the most horrible ways to die.

This is not my quote. “What does, and immortal give up if they sacrifice their life?” Jesus was and is someone we should model our lives after. He did sacrifice his life for his beliefs. His teachings were brilliant. It must be embarrassing to be a Christian to day knowing that they are worshiping some from the middle east.

I saw it when I was 16. I hate subtitles. The movie was too graphic.

I hate subtitles, too!

People deify what they don't understand. Bad things may happen personally; but it's all good on a cosmic level. There may be meaning in this and there may not.

2

Awful. Had a hard time seeing the whole thing !

2

It's exactly what I expected from a film directed and partly written by Mel Gibson, Sadistic is the best description.
Take a look at that other nasty film by this bloke. Apocalypto. Then you'll see what I mean.

or Braveheart. I was going to say the film was more about Mel Gibson than anything in the title

I saw a bit of the part where the guy was whipping him and that was enough for me.

Some S&M going on.

This tread has opposite fellings of what many Christian felt about the movie. 😛assion of Christ:

The movie felt sick to me. Makes you wonder if we all were watching the same film.

The newest Noah film I really liked , it felt like a good natural environmental.

Like others have said, "torture porn." Saw it, HATED IT!

1

Fetishistic, masochistic and sadistic. Cultist.

I've heard production-wise it's well done, but I have no interest in it. A two-hour snuff film isn't my idea of a good time.

At that time it came out--- i was a believer. It was rough. I struggled with my conscience and dought. Wondering why I didnt buy any of this. Fighting myself to think I may change and believe this crap. It was rough during that time. I admit I had reservations on everything. It took awhile to be who i am and to feel good about the new me I'm ok today.

not a lot

I saw it after it was on HBO and at the time I was a Mel Gibson Fan, but not believing in that faith I found be a little more grafic then needed be. I agree with every thing you wrote in spades,I won't watch again. I will say the Mel Gibson movie I've watched 5 or 6 times over the years is payback, plus I have always liked Lucy Lui Wolff- Wolff, Ha Ha

I thought it was ridiculous! The torture scene went on way too long. No human could have survived that long enough to carry the cross up the street just so they could be hung from it. (Or would that be hanged?)

0

Never watched it. Why would I? The last religious movie I watched was Ben Hur when I was a kid.

0

Shocking film! I viewed it as part of my degree but seemed to be just a Mel Gibson indulgence from my view. I did think the Aramaic dialogue was an innovation though.

Torture porn and not as good as Eli Roth could have done it.
