Today, I greeted a woman I know, who is a veteran, and asked how her partner was doing, as he has had health problems as long as I have known them. She informed me that while he was doing better in some ways, he has been waiting since December for a referral at the VA to a specialist, AND that she, too, has been waiting for a referral. THEN she said, “Biden shut down the White House Hotline and now all the calls are automatically forwarding to the VA National Hotline”…and that she really missed Trump. I knew nothing of the “White House Hotline”, so had no response, but thought it not logical that all calls to a White House Hotline would forward to the VA, as not all calls to there would be for VA issues. This evening, I did simple research on Google about it and learned that the decision was announced in 2020 that the VA was going to make the change for all calls to be routed to the VA customer service line. I sent her a screen shot of the fact, noting that the change was announced under Trump’s administration, not Biden’s, and suggested she not disseminate false information without first confirming it’s validity. She responded that she had read about it in the VFW Newsletter (but did not say that publication said Biden had acted). Then she told me “I” should contact the VFW National Press Office. This mentality is why I am done with southwest Arizona. If you hear anyone spreading this lie, please correct them.
