Trump loosened Dodd-Frank bank regulations in 2018. The remaining regulations MAY have been enough to keep SVB stable, but Trump-appointed regulators did not use what power they had. And so here we are.
Surely you're not going to try to deny that Republicans are forever clamoring for less government regulation. It's their signature thing. And when the shit hits the fan, they blame Democrats for not cleaning up the mess fast enough. Happens every time.
Hahaha. Barney Frank (who sponsored the bill and was in the board of one of the failed banks) said that what Trump did had zero effect and had zero bearing one what happened.
Even if it was true, why in the hell didn’t the democrats fix it if it was so bad.

For all the noise he made about hiring the "best" people, Trump famously often installed unqualified sycophants, political hacks, and ideologues in key government positions.
They're ticking time bombs; one just blew up.
This is the biggest “I Fucken Told You So” in American history. I hate it, but the least unable to provide for themselves will go first, so the Democrats will be begging for handouts first as usual.
No party can hold power for two years and complain about the results and blame the other side after shit flat crumbles around them.
