Eurasian Collared Dove returned to last year's nest. I have a ringside seat.

The nest is right outside my bedroom window. I'm thrilled!

Last year she laid two eggs and only one hatched alive. It was fun watching baby dove learn to fly. With little wings, baby fluttered ineptly down to lower branches and couldn't fly up. Mama pushed baby upward with her head while flapping her wings. Up... up... they went, one branch at a time. Silly child.

It only took two weeks for baby to learn to fly after being born. Amazing!

Sorry the photos are fuzzy. Took them through the screen. Don't want to scare her off the nest. She takes breaks for food and water.

She may have laid two eggs. Tomorrow I will check while she is gallivanting around.

Thanks for the reminder. I just read an interesting article about birds and how their language can and does change. I'll post it under science.

How awesome to have a front row seat to watch the babies grow up.
