It's probably not out of the realm....

Yeah, a lot of what once used to be satire, is now a more of a reality. As an example watch the movie "Network" and then think about Fox News. They put people on who say and do crazy stuff, to the point where they no longer can be taken seriously, then they fire them, but don't change how they cover the news, but rather move onto the next crazy on air personality... all for ratings and profits.
