While not a weapon for every climate issue, this does sound interesting in terms of how it can be utilized to address many issues. Supposedly there is more methane in the frozen ice of both hemisphere's than produced from fossil fuels. CRISPR's development is likely years away, but such scientific breakthroughs give hope for more breakthroughs.

It is not a magic bullet, but it will/could certainly help. But when you are dealing with problems like, and as big as, climate change, then you have to tackle them in many different ways, using all the methods you can find. Perhaps even "over engineering" the many solutions, it being better to do too much than too little.

Bacteria have shaped the world we live in...no question about that. We tend to think of them in negative terms--they make us sick, spoil our food, etc. Since you asked ( ) I'm open to CAREFULLY MONITORED research into ways bacteria can ''eat'' plastics, continue to cure diseases and identify ways we can use them in future. It's an exciting concept---with oversight, of course.

(As a vegan....you can imagine my thoughts about all the methane in our planet! Stop wasting water on factory farming for cattle! Stop wasting water on growth of food for cattle....etc.)
