The New York judge in the civil fraud case denied the former president's request to delay the judgment. Trump has to pay or post bond as he files an appeal.
Judge Arthur Engoron’s signed judgment was posted to the court docket Friday, one week after he found Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump liable for fraud in the civil case brought by New York Attorney General Letita James.
Once Trump and the others are served with the judgment, the 30-day clock for them to file an appeal starts. During that period Trump will need to put up cash or post bond to cover the $355 million and additional roughly $100 million in interest he was ordered to pay. The sons were each ordered to pay $4 million back in gains they improperly received because of the fraud. The judge also banned the Trumps from serving as officers of a business entity in New York for several years.
Earlier Friday, James posted on X, “Friday feeling: No one is above the law.”
It was also said his lawyers pleaded with Engoron to give him more time. The usual crap that after months of insults to all the judges and even people associated with the legal system he wants a break!? Would he give someone else a break? It was also stated he can't even come up with the first $5 million fine, never mind the $83 million fine and now, with interest it is well over 1/2 billion. We may not have to jail him but simply bleed him dry. Can a person filing for bankruptcy run for office? Who will pay his tab - the taxpayers of course.
I recently got into a discussion with another person on, who hates this POS the most. I said, that if this were the medieval days he would be drawn and quartered and I would be cheering this. She was surprised as I seem so calm and non violent. There are limits to everything.
Good luck with that, Donnie Boy. I doubt if he can find that much cash. We live in interesting times, but finally not quites so horrifyingly interesting.
