Modern democracy is a joke on so many levels and needs genuine reform both in how it is actioned and on how those making use of it are allowed to finance their efforts.

The Ukrainian/Russian war will pass in to history as another Korea or Vietnam proxy war against "The forces of Evil" and will largely become an engineered part of US history that is not taught in schools and is looked on as a footnote, that lead to economic opportunities in the period of "rebuilding"
Few if any prosecutions will result from it, other than a few minor bits of scapegoating.
That is assuming that Russia wins.
If Putin even thinks he is going to lose the consequence could be extremely dire
