Help! I'm surrounded by the density of god-fearing people who equate Atheist to black magic. It's so hard to function in this society of ignorance and narrow-mindedness. I feel so alone sometimes.

I know how you feel. I really don't talk much to people about religion for that reason. What's funny is I live across the street from a huge Catholic Church and park my car on the street (church side). I have a atheist emblem on my car of a dinosaur eating a Jesus fish. Every Sunday when that parking lot is full it makes me smile ????

Someday our species will figure out it's just us here, no kindly gray haired guy waiting to give us a special gift. Sounds like Santa Clause. I know the feeling, I have kept my beliefs to myself then decide to open up to a friend only to have them cut me out of their life because "YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD!?!" Not everyone has the ability to accept the truth.

People don't seem to understand the importance of evolution of the Consciousness....like as if they can escape it or deny it. When i hear people say "this country just isn't the same as it was", I rejoice while they lament. It's just so ignorant.
I know the feeling, as some of my family members get older, the stronger or harder they try to believe there is a better life afterward. And people like us are going to hell and it is why bad things happen to us. Not true.some times bad things happen to good people. Just because we don't believe someone else has power over our lives does not mean we are evil, that we care about no one or community. Au contraire,lol many of us are gentle, loving, sympathatic, empathetic, and try to help anyone who is down on their luck. Needing an ear and a hug. We are part of That group,not spawns of the devil, which is a creation of religion to control weak minds. Sad is so many of my co workers and family think im going to man-made place called hell. And im the happy one, not stressing over about what church members think or stressing am I a good hippocryte. Lol

The most recent studies on Atheist conclude that we actually have higher moral standards. I think it's because we don't look to forgiveness from god, we change our actions, that which make us uncomfortable. I think integrity has alot to do with comfort. When your actions, thoughts and your heart are at one with each other, you don't do things to be forgiven for.
God fearing? I understand the concept of fearing the devil as he is cast as the antagonist, but surely people are suppose to love their Gods?? I digress, I live in a country of belief tolerance, however, I do understand isolation due to differences. They only advice I can give is either move or develop thick skin and tongue.

Doubt I will be moving and as far as developing a thick skin....that ain't going to happen. I mostly enjoy the fact that I am more sensitive to other peoples thoughts and feelings. It makes me who I am and I'm not going to allow others to change me. I will change because I want to, because I made that decision.
If it was me, I would run with it. Become 'that house'...but I don't mind being alone. I find I am great company. There has to be some meeting of like or open-minded people there somewhere? Scour the interwebs!
