How can you be a Satanic Agnostic?

There's allegedly a group on here who worship Satan. Is that allowed? Is there some other guy named Satan who I don't know about?

People have to fudge their beliefs. No. There’s no way to be an Agnostic Satanist.

I would be considered a "Satanic Agnostic". I don't believe in a physical person known as "Satan", but I do agree with the philosophies of the satanic movement.

You're so bad ass.

I thought Satan was a spiritual person, not a physical person.

Like others said, no actual belief in deities or demons is required for many satanists.

Tenets from the Satanic Temple:

-One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.
-The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
-One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
-The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
-Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
-People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and remediate any harm that may have been caused.
-Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

They also use their status as a religion to challenge laws where christianity has become enmeshed with government, on the grounds of discrimination.

Did you read the group description? Have you ever looked into Satanism or you basing your views on what christians say about it?

Satanists don't worship Satan, they don't even believe in it. Satan, to them, is a symbol of rebellion against religious indoctrination.

In the bible it was Satan who refused to bow before god. Satan represents rejection of oppression.

So, you're saying we all should worship Satan?

Why would you want to?

The Satanic Temple (not the LaVey sect) refers to Satan as a symbol of individualism and rebellion against authority. They promote religious freedom.

Blummin' 'eck, I may not be religious, but I'm a bit scared to look up that site!

@girlwithsmiles :I think they are actually atheists who present as "Satanists" so they can demand (and get refused) to do what other religions get to do such as invocations at government meetings. Then, they sue.

@dare2dream um, could be a dangerous approach. But I used to like death metal and a lot of that works around similar principles!

LaVey Satanism and its derivatives neither worship nor believe in a personal devil, they are mostly just provocateurs with that.

In any case there are agnostic theists of various stripes. Not common, but they exist.

What does an "agnostic theist" believe in? What is their creed?

The above link on city-data is my go-to description of the differences between [a]gnosticism and [a]theism and the different combinations of the two -- particularly the graphic. Full disclosure: a minority of people (particularly some agnostics) do not agree with this way of understanding things, but I think it's got good fidelity to the plain meanings of the words, and in the case of agnosticism, is true to the intent Huxley expressed in coining the term.

I was a member of Anton LaVey's Church of Satan back in my late teens/early 20's. The COS was a decidedly atheist organization. Most of the get-togethers were philosophical discussions with occasional "rituals" that were mostly a way of making fun of the "born again" folks who were just starting to become a "thing." ,

Did you have to worship Satan to become a member?

Good question. I've been wondering the same thing.
