When your cat is calling out loudly in the dark its so you know they are there and they won't startle you with their presence.

Kneeding is a behavior learned as a kitten, it stimulates mom to produce breast milk for feeding. When they kneed on you it's because they feel safe and nurtured.

Turning their back toward you is a sign of trust. It is a way for them to say they know you have their back and won't harm them.

So next time kitty cries out from the dark, claws the shit out of your thigh, and sticks their butt in your face remember it's because they love you.
