When I first arrived, nothing was coming close, but as I sat quietly, the dragonflies in particular started coming out. One even started turning my knee into a perch, and I was fascinated by how quickly they started to trust me. Honestly I still feel guilty, because I heard some people with insect nets coming by and I borrowed one. Sat back down briefly, and the trust was still there. Yeah, I broke that trust. Never again. That was decades ago, and I’ve never really gotten over it.

I love dragon flies. I was kayaking in late July when one landed on the back of my hand. I froze; so I wouldn't scare him.
After a minute or so he flew off, but he only flew a couple of feet and circled back to land on my arm. When he landed, he had a writhing mosquito in his mandible. He quickly feasted on his catch and flew away.
I wish I could have gotten some pictures.
