I've never seen one that wasn't outdoors . When they were building it the dirt was wet usually they don't peak like that .

Almost looks like a small version of an African termite mound - interesting.
I'd want to dig into it, and see who's in there ...

I'd hate to find out they were african termites . I know whos in there last time I poked it it was fire ants . As long as it's not in my way I'll let them be , especially if they continue with their creative construction .
@Besalbub No definitely not - their mounds are often over 6ft tall (!), and very, very hard. Your ants clearly have some artistic talents ! I leave mine alone too - especially ever since I learned that they eat termites ! As long as I don't mess with their mounds they leave me alone. Thanks for doing the same.
